Sasfin - An investment-holding company
Sasfin is evolving from an integrated banking group to an investment-holding company, backed by long-term providers of capital and focused on building independent financial services businesses with exceptional management teams and their own brands. Its two key investments - Wealth and Rental Finance – will be the cornerstone of this new structure.
Wealth and Rental Finance: The path forward
Wealth has long operated with a degree of independence, with its own board of directors and dedicated support services. Over the years, it has developed a strong global investment strategy, expanded its offering across private, corporate and institutional clients, and strengthened its Private Market capabilities. Its associate, DMA, has been an important contributor to Wealth’s performance.
The recent transition provided an ideal opportunity for Wealth to define its future, not a reinvention, but a clear, focused expression of its essence as a confidently independent, standalone business. Wealth recently announced its name change to Otto1890, a single, integrated investment specialist delivering the full breadth and depth of expertise and propriety solutions to enable clients to achieve their investment objectives.
Rental Finance moving forward as Sunlyn– its market-facing brand for decades – has successfully transitioned into a standalone entity. Rental Finance has an exceptional management team of industry doyens who have built the business over decades, now bolstered by new appointments from within the Group who have proven their value over the last few years, essential for operating as a standalone business.
Rental Finance has all the necessary securitisation (its primary funding source), and banking facilities in place from some of South Africa’s major institutions and banks. In 2025 alone, our Rental Finance business raised R2 billion worth of growth and replacement funding. This new funding which followed detailed due diligence processes, is a strong endorsement of the business’s resilience, its robust model, and its ability to deliver consistent results. As the market leader, Rental Finance remains well positioned for sustainable growth.
